and the conductor can even accept payment in foreign currencies for tickets.
The printer is a lightweight, (less than 400 grams), robust, battery operated, direct thermal solution that includes an integrated Bluetooth module for state-of-the art wireless communication, a built-in three-track micro magnetic-card-reader and a new Lithium Ion battery with fast recharging for greater number of receipts per charge. “By making use of the latest technologies, SJ Persontrafik has greatly enhanced the service provided to its customers. Our railways now have the first computerised conductors in the world, who are benefiting from high quality working processes,” said Christer Köhler, Project Manager for SJ in Malmö.
Köhler continued: “Our solution is the result of a strong partnership with Extech, Psion’s computer hardware and EDB- Gruppen’s ticketing software. All the companies complement each other, partly through the different products and services they contribute and partly on a more personal and professional level.”
“SJ Persontrafik (SJ), will see an increase in revenue by offering a more flexible way of buying tickets with their frontline workers completing mobile transactions at the point of sale,” said Tony Revis, general manager of Extech Instruments Corporation www.extech.com.
